Finding your way Home

Trusting again isn’t easy

Have you ever unexpectedly overheard negative, hurtful comments, about you, from someone you thought of as a beloved sister? You experience something like an unexpected stab as the underwire of your favourite bra suddenly pierces your heart. You hold your breath and quietly sneak away… Praying not to be seen. You vow never to trust again. Never again reach out to another woman for sisterly love and support.

The many faces of betrayal

A quick google search shows that 68% of people admit having felt betrayed by friends. Betrayal can take various forms including sharing a confidence, spreading gossip or rumours, stealing, infidelity with your partner…. the list seems endless.

Deep hurt often leads to isolation

I remember overhearing a woman I had thought of as a beloved friend sharing the details of my recent and earlier miscarriages. Her words were unspeakable. Her cold, callous laughter pierced the deepest recesses of my soul…and as a protective defense, I isolated myself from other women.

History bares the blame

Since ancient times women have gathered in circles to support each other. Witch hunts were used to subjugate women and created separation and isolation amongst women. We were taught to fear witches and not those who created or persecuted witches. Women embodied the risk of being condemned to death and heinous torture. A legacy of division, criticism and loneliness became the prison of every woman, and we have carried this on to our daughters.

Learning to trust again through connection

A deep inner need for connection with other women found me trawling social media. I started to notice posts from a Women’s Village that called to my soul. I eagerly anticipated the next post. The silent whisper from my soul became stronger… “Might this be a place where I belong? A place to share my story in love and acceptance”. Each tentative step forward felt right, I found myself being welcomed. My place in the circle resonated with my heart. I was home… Please take my hand, your place is waiting for you too.

Welcome home, beloved sister.

What are you yearning for? What’s that something ‘more’ that’s nagging deep inside you?

We all have access to this knowing, but often we need a little support to find it. Reach out, take our hand and let’s find out together.
